A travel high chair is a great piece of gear to bring on a family city trip.
Eating out with a toddler is often one of the most tiring parts of traveling as a young family and while a high chair will not make all the difficulties go away, it can without a doubt help making meal times a little less stressful.
Over the course of the many city trips we have taken with our children, we noticed that a potable highchair can:
Make the choice of restaurant easier, allowing you to focus on menu and atmosphere rather than availability of baby gear.

Help your child relax, the familiar piece of equipment helping them settle into a mealtime routine, not matter where you are
Give you free hands to enjoy your meal, something much harder when you are balancing an active toddler on your knees!
Because of this, a good travel high chair a piece of travel gear we highly recommend getting. This is our selection of the best highchairs for travel 2019.
Portable high chairs for travel: best styles
There are 3 main styles of portable high chair you should consider when travelling:
Wrap: A wrap-style high chair is an exceptionally lightweight and portable solution consisting of a piece of fabric that wraps around the back of a chair and around your baby, effectively creating a harness.
They are great for travel as very easy to add to your luggage without creating bulk and they can easily be washed, a definite plus for any piece of gear used at toddlers mealtime!
They are a very versatile piece of gear and the only issue you may encounter is that they are not suitable to all type of chairs, either because of the shape of the back or general design.
Hook-on high chair: Hook on high chairs attach to the side of the table and they are an excellent solution as they offer a structured seat without the need for chair legs, too awkward to travel with.
Hook on high chairs are usually easy to carry as they fold pretty small and many parents notice kids love them so much on travels they then end up using them at home too, which is always a plus.
The only drawback with chairs of this type is that they do not work with all types of tables so you may find they are not great in a cafe in Paris or a street side trattoria in Rome, where tables are on the smaller and flimsier side.
They do however work great in booth-style restaurants and they can come very handy in holiday rentals.
Booster seats: booster seats do just what they promise to do: they create extra height to allow your child to seat the table with you, no matter what type of table you are at.
These are excellent for travel as super versatile and the only issue with them is that they tend to be a little bulkier than other styles.
