Barcelona enjoys wonderful Mediterranean weather and is a pleasure to visit pretty much in all seasons. The best time to go to Barcelona is early Summer and early Autumn when the city is sunny but not overly hot.
Summer sees the highest concentration of tourists while winter tends to be quieter, due to the lower temperatures.
For families, the best time to visit Barcelona is May to June and September to October, when the weather is perfect for sightseeing and city life is in full swing.

SPRING IN BARCELONA (MARCH – JUNE)
Barcelona is a delight in spring. Sunny and bright, this is the perfect time for exploring the city’s many sightseeing spots and beautiful outdoor spaces.
April sees some significant rainfall but from May onwards the temperatures rise steadily along with humidity, giving the city a summery feel.
SUMMER IN BARCELONA (JUNE – AUGUST)
Summer in Barcelona is hot and humid.
June is still a pleasant time to visit: hot but not overly so, this is the time for al fresco dining and picnic in Barcelona’s parks and also the time to enjoy the city’s most famous beach, Barceloneta.
July and August are high tourist season in Barcelona but they can be hard to handle, especially if travelling with young kids. The days are hot and humid and many locals leave to enjoy their summer holiday, making the city feel less authentic.
AUTUMN IN BARCELONA (SEPTEMBER – DECEMBER)
Autumn is a lovely time to visit Barcelona. September is still very much a summer month and you can enjoy great weather up until mid-October. The weather starts to turn colder in November.
City life is in full swing at this time meaning you are able to get a glimpse of local life.
WINTER IN BARCELONA (DECEMBER – FEBRUARY)
Barcelona has mild winters. Even at the height of the cold season, the city experiences bright sunny days, with temperatures always above freezing. Winter is a great time to visit Barcelona if you want to avoid the crowds: accommodation prices tend to be lower than in summer and Barcelona hotel deals are frequent.
